Miles from any body of water and before the first droplets of rain, God revealed His plans to Noah. Providing every architectural detail and the living cargo, God invited Noah to become the second “father” of the human race. For 120 years, Noah diligently worked crafting the ancient ark. God provided the plans; Noah prepared the project. This week, let’s accept God’s invitation to prepare and work at it with all our hearts.

Key Verse: So God said to Noah…make yourself an ark. Noah did everything just as God commanded him. Genesis 6:14; 22

  • Monday – Every day we are faced with the junction of following or running the other way. Whatever assignment God is preparing you for, He will guide you through. Like Jonah, it might smell a little fishy, and you can refuse the job, but it won’t change your calling. Has God given you a divine assignment that makes you cringe with disgust or shrivel up in fear?
    • The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go”…But Jonah ran away from the Lord. Jonah 1:1-3
  • Tuesday – The very thing Moses needed to make a way for himself and others was at his fingertips. Just like Moses’ staff, God has placed talents and abilities at our fingertips to split the sea for others, enabling them to walk on dry ground. Sometimes, these gifts require additional training. Is God asking you to invest time in your talents to prepare you for a higher calling?
    • And as for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14:16
  • Wednesday – Throughout Scripture, God’s people were given instructions to prepare by faithfully taking small steps leading to significant results. Learning to be faithful in the small steps of obedience is required before we can prepare for greater leaps. Has God entrusted you with a small step? Have you taken it? If not, why?
    • “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. Luke 16:10
  • Thursday – Part of preparing is leaning into God’s voice and simply being available. Are you willing to go where He needs you? Spend time praying and listening for His leading voice. He will always lead, never push.
    • Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
  • Friday – To preach the Word, one must know the Word. To know the Word, one must study the Word. To study the Word, one must prioritize the Word. How can you prioritize His Word and be prepared to preach it every season? This might look like getting up fifteen minutes earlier, setting your Bible out the night before, or choosing to turn off the distraction of electronics.
    • Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 2 Timothy 4:2
