Did you know the phrase “one another” appears in the New Testament 100 times? Roughly half of those “one another” Bible verses relate to our interaction within the Christian community! Commands like love, honor, serve, care for, pray for, bear with, encourage, comfort, stir up, teach, and so many more.

According to the Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon, the word we interpret as “one another” is actually one Greek word – ἀλλήλων [allelon /al·lay·lone/]. This lemma (dictionary form of a word) occurs:

76 times as “one another.”
12 times as “themselves.”
3 times as “yourselves.”
9 times as miscellaneously
1 time as one another, reciprocally, mutually.

This chart shows the number of times “one another” is used in each chapter of the New Testament. Most of the “one another” bible verses in the Gospels relate to speaking to one another, which have been left out of our study. While several “one another” verses fit into more than one category, each verse is only included in one topic to prevent duplicates.
