If you’re struggling with what to think, much less what to pray, here are a few suggested prayers to help get you started.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18

1 | Prayer for the President and All Leaders

Father, as President Trump is the authority you have placed over us, I ask you to direct his steps as he makes choices that govern our land. May You spread your holy hand of protection over the President’s thoughts, actions, directions, and decisions. Surround him with Godly counsel, as Your Word becomes a lamp unto his feet and a light unto the right path for our country. Lord, raise high all involved in the leading of our cities, states, and countries throughout the world remembering all authority is given to Christ. Give courage to all the leaders of homes, businesses, churches, hospitals, and organizations as we all tread this unchartered time in our world.

2 | Pray for God’s Peace to Reign Down

Prince of Peace, the spirit hovering over our great world is a spirit of fear and panic, which is not from you. As your ambassador, guard my heart and mind through Jesus Christ and grant my heart Your Spirit of peace. Help me to seek the peace of the land for which you have placed me. May I yield my fears, worries, concerns, and doubts to you so that I will not be subject again to a yoke of fearful slavery. Fill me with your unshakable peace so I can pour it out on the people I encounter – a world in desperate need. May Your peace wrap around the anxious heart, warm the shivering soul and capture the wandering mind.
  • For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Ephesians 5:1
  • That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints… Ephesians 5:17-18

Let the guiding light of your Word anchor my heart and mind, bridging the gap between now and the eternal future.

Understanding it’s not your desire for anyone to perish, we lift up, by name, those in our lives who do not know you. May our lives be a living testimony to your love for them as we overcome brokenness with your goodness. We are trusting that what was meant for harm will be used for the saving of many.

8 | Prayers of Praise

Praiseworthy One, put a new song of praise in all our hearts. Just as we were created to breathe, we were created to praise you. Rewire our thoughts, redirect our attention, and renew our joy as we continue to focus on whatever is pure, lovely and praiseworthy. As we learn to praise you for who you are, allow no room for the enemy. Draw us into your presence as we move mountains of despair by weeding out complaints and weaving in praise. Only then will we begin to see Your sovereign solutions, fervent faithfulness, powerful protection, unfaltering forgiveness, and everlasting love.
