Remembering September 11, 2001

What once was an emergency number, 9-11, now marks the historical date of our nation’s state of emergency.  Who could forget where they were on that fateful Tuesday morning 10 years ago?   Sitting in a business law class with 70 other students, with tears streaming down my face and shaking hands, I watched as those two majestic towers crumbled.  All I wanted to do was pick up my daughter from school and hold her tight, never to let her go.  So many went to bed that night not knowing if they would ever hold their loved ones again.  What was meant to destroy us only brought unity among mere strangers.  And while they wanted to crush our country, they only ignited our patriotic spirit.  “Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there” rings in my ear.  While I reflect on that tragic day, my heart and prayers go out those who forever lost mommies, daddies, sons, daughters, friends and co-workers.  I so honor the courageous men and women that fight to protect the freedom we enjoy as I am reminded that our freedom is not free.  May God bless our country, protect our military, and comfort the thousands of lives forever changed that cool September morning ten years ago.
